玉门关

前往敦煌雅丹的路上经过玉门关。这里是汉代边界，因为西域输入玉石得名。尽管地处荒凉，但汉代时的玉门关位于重要的水源疏勒河位置，是丝绸之路南线的关键，把守水源和商路十分重要。

在汉代这里是汉帝国的边界，因西域输入玉石取道于此得名。但玉门关这个名字在历史上指代过多个关卡，现在指的是汉代的玉门关。

从现在的视角看会很奇怪为什么要在这个荒凉至极的地方设立关卡，它能起到作用吗？

实际上在汉代，丝绸之路南线还没有荒漠化，那时候楼兰还存在。玉门关所在的位置是疏勒河，相当于把守住了水源。
